Original Woodcarving

Woodcarving is the way that I explore a three dimension art form while holding in my hands a part of Nature—branches, twigs, driftwood, roots, or pieces of kiln-dried lumber in which I carve spoons, wearable art, and ornaments. Relief carving in the round on old wood spools has become a favorite pastime. In the process, I am recycling old sewing spools. Some of the fun in using these spools is finding unusual labels that have ridiculously low thread prices as well as labels I had never seen in my mother’s thread box while sewing as a child! It is not uncommon for me to find thread prices of $0.19 or $0.29 for 300 yards which presently cost over two dollars for the same yardage.

Prices for custom carvings range from $18 and up for wearable art to $75 for a custom designed ornament. Each custom carving is priced based on the detail of work.
